WHAT IS MDM?

Whether the smartphone, laptop of a sales employee, or a demo tablet in the showroom of a car dealership – external access to company data via a mobile device is now part of everyday corporate life. Virtual private networks (VPN) can be used to protect and control data traffic – but the use of such solutions is often complex: VPN servers, firewalls, and end device apps must be provided and preconfigured. What previously only worked with iOS is now possible with AppTec Mobile Device Management on all supported operating systems: In Always-on mode, devices managed with AppTec connect automatically and exclusively to your company via VPN.
A subsequent, manual deactivation of the VPN in favor of a WLAN or mobile hotspot connection, for example, is not possible, not even by a restart.

For some companies, it is sufficient for employees to have access only to selected websites via their mobile devices and notebooks. Many companies therefore rely on web filters that generally prevent certain websites from being opened. This reduces the capture of viruses and Trojans to a minimum.
These filters are based on a whitelist or a blacklist: If the former is about granting access only to certain websites, a blacklist only prevents the opening of unwanted websites. When using web filters, it’s not only the reliability that counts but also the ease of use of the filter software.
With the AppTec WebFilter, access restrictions can be set across browsers and on all operating systems. The filter software works on the basis of a database with more than two million category-based entries on AppTec’s central Universal Gateway Server. In this way, a single click – depending on the category – can block access to thousands or hundreds of thousands of pages.
WHAT IS DIGITAL SIGNAGE?
Promotional messages, traffic news, door signage, product detail information – these very different types of media that are directed at a larger audience can all receive a high level of attention through Digital Signage. Through permanently installed screens, so-called Digital Signage displays such as tablets, special offers, product and service information, as well as important messages, can be presented to customers in an easy and attractive way anywhere — from in-store to roadside.
Digital Signage systems are ideally suited for promoting products and services in public spaces, be it in the form of outdoor digital advertising on houses or bridges, as digital window displays in retail, or as Digital Signage screens in showrooms, museums, or public buildings. MULTI-APP KIOSK MODE: DIGITAL SIGNAGE INTERACTIVE
Should your everyday business processes be more complex, they can only be supported by using several separate apps. Here too, access to further applications is not relevant and it’s often safer and leads to better performance to limit the number of accessible applications, especially considering how much data gaming apps may consume.
In the Multi-App Kiosk mode, mobile devices can be restricted to a dedicated work mode in which users can only access specific unlocked applications. This allows operating Digital Signage interactively while limiting access to corporate data and systems to the necessary level. This can be beneficial in industries and vocations in which staff is typically not as tech-savvy, e.g. in patient care.
HOW MULTI-APP KIOSK MODE WORKS
Users working with a smartphone or a tablet in kiosk mode see a special landing page instead of the regular home screen. Via this entry menu, the user has access to unlocked apps, a notifications menu, and system settings. If the device is restarted, kiosk mode is again automatically activated.
